After solely settling the tuition of 10 female undergraduates, Barr Natasha Akpoti has once again proven her steadfastness for societal development, and reiterated the fact that it’s not the fleet of cars, the mansions and accumulated wealth that define wealth, but our impact to societal development, humanity and the good name we are able to drop behind for posterity to pinpoint and eulogise.
Natasha Akpoti is neither a politician nor the richest in our society, but for an umpteenth time, she has demonstrated the fact that to make an ideal society, you must set a pace for others to trail, empower the people to stand on their own and take the injury of one as an injury for all.
As amply captured by Kofi Annan, “Literacy is a bridge from misery to hope. It is a tool for daily life in modern society. It is a bulwark against poverty, and a building block of societal development. Especially for girls and women, it is an agent of family health and nutrition. It is the road to human progress and the means through which every man, woman and child can realize his or her full potential.”
Despite her numerous schedule on her struggle for resuscitation of Ajaokuta Steel Complex, and her empowerment programmes for youth entrepreneurship, she still comes down to touch the lives of the less privileged in the society, lessen the burden of the poor parents and causing the orphans to smile.
Indeed, Barr Natasha is a rear gem, a true definition of a cheerful giver who gives without expecting anything in return. She gives silently and refuses to be praised. Our society needs her type at the helm of our affairs, we need her type to judiciously manage our treasure and give the right of the poor masses to them and I hope someday, we will have her type at such sensitive position.
She has redefined the power of women and their unquantifiable roles in societal development. She has demonstrated the role of an ideal social activist, she has set a pace for the younger generation to trail, she has challenge the so-called political overlords who constantly betrayed the trust bestowed on them and raped the masses of their common rights.
The social activist, the philanthropist, the woman of virtue and the mother of the orphans deserves our support, prayer, encouragement and promotion of her programmes. Therefore, Ihima Students’ Union reiterated her unalloyed support for her humanitarian service and her quest for societal development.
We therefore felicitate with the beneficiaries of this kind gesture and wish them fruitful academic sojourn, urging them to always strive to justify the trust repose on them.
May God make our politicians to see reasons to trail this humane path.
Ihima Students’ Union says a big kudos to your humanitarian service. The God of the less privileged, the prayers of the poor parents and the joyous heart of the poor beneficiaries will always elevate you beyond imaginations and widen your path in all your endeavours.
Comrade Isah Bala, Ihima Students’ Union Secretary General.
