Super Eagles forward, Ahmed Musa, only clocked 24 few days back but his achievements have gone past the number of his age, making him one of the best among his age grades
The Leicester City man is one of few players in the current Eagles set up to have amassed over 50 caps, scoring 11 goals in an Era when the national team struggles.
Let’s highlight seven of his greatest achievements of the pace winger for both club and country at just 24.
1. Record goals scored in the Nigerian league
At age 17, Musa achieved an unbelievable feat in the Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL, in 2009. The forward grabbed 18 goals which made him the record goalscorer in the Nigerian top flight. This record, however, has since been smashed twice, first by Jude Aneke in 2011, then Mfon Udoh in 2014.
2. Leicester City record signing
Musa sealed a long-term dream of playing in the Premier League by joining champions, Leicester City, in the summer. The Foxes coughed out a club record £16 million to acquire the Nigerian from CSKA Moscow.
3. First Nigerian to score World Cup brace
Nigerian legends such as Rashidi Yekini, Kanu Nwankwo and Austin Okocha all featured at the FIFA World Cup but none was able to score a brace at the Mundial. However, Musa dramatically accomplished this in the 3-2 defeat to Argentina in 2014.
4. African Champion
Barely three years after making his debut for the Eagles, Musa won the Africa Cup of Nations title in South Africa in 2013, scoring once. This was Nigeria’s first in 19 years and third in history.
5. Three-time Russian champion
While at CSKA, Musa clinched the Russian Premier League thrice. This was in 2013, 2014 and 2016 before his move to England.
6. Ranked 18th fastest footballer in the world
The former CSKA player is the 18th fastest footballer in the world according to a rating released by EA Sports for its latest edition of FIFA 17. The winger boasts an unbelievable 93 pace and an overall rating of 78.
7. Record goals for CSKA Moscow
In just five seasons in Russia, Musa notched 54 goals in 164 appearances. This stats means he averaged a little above one goal in every three games, which makes him the club’s highest scoring winger in history.
