A group of politicians believed to be loyalists of the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu, are currently holding a mega rally in Lagos State, to drum support for Tinubu, who they believe is currently being persecuted by the leadership of the party ahead of 2019.
An Insider told Post-Nigeria authoritatively, that Tinubu is preparing ground to run for president come 2019, if everything works out as planned.
“Yes I can confirm authoritatively that there is a mega rally today being Saturday, in honour of one of our own. He is the person of Bola Tinubu”, the source said.
When Post-Nigeria probed further, the source said that the rally is a mark of solidarity to Tinubu, who is under pressure to declare for presidency come 2019.

“As it stands, Tinubu is under intense pressure to declare his political stance,’’ the source added.
Tinubu had been at loggerheads with the National Chairman of the party, John Oyegun, and some power brokers within the APC, over the outcome of the party’s gubernatorial primary in Ondo State.
The rally, which insiders within the party said have participants from across the 57 local government and council areas, will later converge on the party’s secretariat in Lagos.
However, an organisation, the Save Lagos Group, has condemned the proposed rally, while raising alarm that those behind the rally are using it to siphoned funds.
The convener of the organisation, Comrade Adeniyi A. Sulaiman, and Director, Media and Strategy, Comrade Olaolu Oladipo, in a statement, alleged that the Akinwunmi Ambode-led government has earmarked a huge amount of public funds for the rally.
Calling on the Lagos State government to come out clean on its role in the rally, the Save Lagos Group said it is aware of the money already committed to the project, while querying the rationale behind the rally, which it stated was not being done for the benefit of the masses but rather to satisfy the ego of some prominent politicians.
The group said: “Information available to us indicates the state government has committed a huge amount of money for the rally.
“We wonder what benefit would accrue to the people of the state from Saturday’s rally rather than the fact that it was organised to massage the ego of prominent leaders of the APC.
“What is even more confounding to us is the fact that the money or resources to be deployed would be coming from the pool of taxes paid by the people of the state who would have loved to see such resources utilized for developmental purposes rather than what it is being planned for by the state government.”
