Viewers on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? were left delighted after an amputee contestant won £125K by correctly naming the location of a castle – as it was where he lost his leg.
Gareth Kendall, from Halifax, was asked where the ruins of Urquhart Castle in Scotland stood, to which he replied: ‘I know this…because I lost my leg there’ – leading to gasps in the audience.
He had earlier explained how he had lost his leg in a horror car crash, before later revealing he had been visiting the ruins of the castle on Loch Less.
Cafe owner Gareth took home the prize money to become the most successful contestant so far on the new series of the show – with host Jeremy Clarkson remarking ‘Finally we have someone with some general knowledge.’

However, he could have gone home with £250,000 – as his ‘inkling’ on the answer of the next question had been correct.
Clarkson had asked Gareth, who was seen adjusting his prosthetic leg as he sat down, about losing his lefr leg on Wednesday night’s show
Gareth explained ‘I was in a car crash’, before revealing that he had got a tattoo on his right leg.
‘I have one foot in the grave tattooed on my leg, and it’s actually gone quite viral,’ he said.

Others pointed out that the fact that he has been the most successful contestant since the reboot of the quiz show hit screens last week.
In fact, even host Clarkson appeared to lose his patience on Monday night’s show, after a contestant struggled to answer a question on where Blackpool Tower is.
The original Who Wants To Be A Millionaire show ran from 1998 to 2014, and was hosted Chris Tarrant.
Clarkson is reviving the quiz show for seven episodes to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the programme.
Explaining how he used to live in Inverness, Gareth explained how he had visited the ruins of Urquhart Castle before losing his leg in a car crash
