Police are hunting a serial sex attacker on the loose in south-east London after more than a dozen women came forward to say they have been assaulted.

The man – thought to be in his late teens or twenties – struck in Ladywell, Lewisham on April 29, but his attacks may stretch back to December last year.

So far, 13 women have come forward to report sex attacks, prompting police to release footage of a man they want to arrest.

The footage shows the suspect, described as a light-skinned black male, of slim build and around five feet tall, walking past fencing in the borough.

A police spokesman said: ‘He has an afro hair style that is around three to four inches deep. On a number of attacks he has worn a dark jacket with a hood which is worn up, dark trousers or jeans and trainers. He has also sometimes worn gloves.’

Detective Constable Tristan Hunter said: ‘These incidents were very traumatic for the victims and we are appealing to the public to help us identify who this man is so that he can be apprehended as soon as possible.

‘There is a possibility that these incidents are part of a linked series of attacks, as a number of victims have provided very similar descriptions of the attacker.

‘While efforts to trace the person or people behind these attacks progresses, police patrols in the area have been increased and officers are working with the community to offer reassurance and to hlep identify the offender.’
